WW1 The Home Front in the Highlands in 1916

Highland Archive Centre, Inverness

Free drop-in event.

If you are interested in WW1 or would like to find out what life was like in the Highlands during the war, you should pop along to have a look at this exhibition of original archive material and other sources which document how our local communities were coping with the war. In 1916, one hundred years ago, conscription was in force, travel in the Highlands was strictly controlled and public houses were compulsorily purchased. What effect did all of this have on the everyday lives of Highlanders? Well, you will need to come along to find out.
